Streaming is more accessible than ever. You can start with some resources, some of which you may already have. In fact, the best way to get started with live video production is to jump right in with your current tools and upgrade over time.
As we run through the list we suggest live streaming equipment (for beginners and pros) that will make you a professional streamer.
1. Internet connection
Before you start buying equipment, there is one important thing you need regardless of your budget: A strong and reliable Internet connection with plenty of bandwidth. Figure out your budget first here because it is the most important part of your streaming settings.
Don’t rely on a weak signal or the generosity of someone else’s connection to create a good video quality. Make sure you have your own link. Skip the Wi-Fi and plug the ethernet cable directly into your router so there are no problems.
2. Computer
If you want to stream quickly on TikTok or Facebook Live, a mobile device (phone or tablet) is usually, but if you care about your stream, you will need to use a PC or laptop modern with video capture card. This will help you avoid video lag and let you use more advanced equipment, such as a DSLR camera and a good podcast microphone.

If you plan on using the laptop for long periods of time, keep the temperature in mind. Laptops can get hot over time, especially if you do a lot of high-powered applications. You can find some fans to cool the CPU and GPU.

3. Camera
Your camera is the most important part of your live streaming setup. Don’t stop here. You want something compact and lightweight to fit into your streaming setup.
Your laptop’s webcam is fine for video production, but we recommend getting something better. Your audience wants to see you better, so it’s worth spending a few dollars to get something better. If you’re new to cameras, choose something with automatic settings that don’t require a lot of manual adjustments. Here are some good options:

If you want good video, go for a professional camera like the Panasonic AG-CX350 4K. At $3,200, it’s a bit pricey, but it does offer a nice streaming feature.
4. Microphone
Your microphone is another key component of your live streaming setup. As a new stream, you can use the built-in camera that comes with your laptop or webcam. These can work, but the audio leaves a lot to be desired. We recommend taking a dedicated microphone.
The Audio Technica ART2100x or the Samson Q2U are compact speakers that will get you streaming fast. Both are USB, so you don’t need any additional equipment.

4. Composition
Depending on your streaming needs, you may choose to purchase an audio mixer. A mixer combines and records multiple audio sources into a digital format. It also gives you the ability to control the volume of the sources. It is an important tool if you use many input sources (multiple people, applications, etc.). All in all, they offer many services.
If you’re a live streamer (just from your desk) with one camera and one microphone, you probably don’t need a mixer. But we highly recommend if you are hosting a music production, church service, sports event, business meeting, or something similar.

4. Video Converter

Once your app is in place, you’ll need a place to publish your content.
